Radio Rosewood

Radio Rosewood is open from seven in the morning until midnight. Coffee at one end of the day, cocktails at the other, same room throughout.

Seventeen hours is a long shift for a photo booth, but through our venue placement program this build is easily done.

The room

Radio Rosewood sits at 1115 East 11th Street in East Austin, and it is the third Radio, after the original Radio Coffee & Beer on Menchaca and Radio/East on Montopolis. It opened in February 2025 with Shortwave Diner in the kitchen, which was their food truck before it got a full stove.

Our booth lives out on the covered patio, against the wood fence, under the corrugated roof. Which means it is in real daylight at breakfast and under warm light at last call, and it has to look right in both.

What we built

Most of our booths get a palette that belongs to one time of day. A bar booth is built for the evening. A coffee shop booth is built for the morning. This one could not pick.

So the whole thing runs warm. Terracotta velvet on the curtain, mid brown wood on the lower panels, and an olive green face carrying PHOTOGRAPHS in cream inside a stepped deco border. Warm colours are the ones that survive the whole day. They read as sunlit at eight in the morning and as lamplight at eleven at night, and nothing about them looks clinical in daylight or grim in the dark.

A cool palette would have failed one end of that shift. That is the entire reasoning behind the colour, and it is the sort of decision you only make if you ask what time of day the room is, and then find out the answer is all of them.

The floor plate is black with a fine grid and MAJESTIC set into it. Inside, the backdrop is a black and salmon vertical stripe, which is doing a job: it puts a graphic behind every single face without anyone needing to think about where to stand.

Underneath it is our Classic booth, on bronze leveling feet, with a tap reader beside the screen and the print slot in the lower panel. If you want this level of detail and thought put into your venue’s photo booth, reach out to us.

The roses

The custom panels put sage green and salmon stripes down one side with black roses drawn into them, in the same stepped deco frame as the lettering.

Rosewood, roses. It is the obvious idea and it would have been very easy to do badly. The reason it works is that they are line illustrations inside a graphic border rather than decoration stuck on a cabinet, so the panel reads as a poster rather than as a theme.

The same deco plaque carries through to the strip. Every print comes out with a deep green footer and RADIO ROSEWOOD in gold inside that frame, which is the part that leaves the patio and ends up on somebody's fridge.
